Johnson County Interstate 69 Corridor Plan
With INDOT’s final determination for the Interstate 69 route serving as the catalyst, HWC was retained by Johnson County to create a corridor plan to guide planning in areas of the county impacted by the new interstate. The plan’s analysis considered how three Interstate 69 interchanges would potentially create ripple effects throughout the county’s thoroughfare network. The plan recommended changes to the thoroughfare plan classifications, new transportation routes in developing areas, as well as land use and infrastructure recommendations to support potential economic development resulting from Interstate 69.

The plan identified key issues facing the Angola community, a vision for development around the interchange, and strategies to implement the plan. This ultimately resulted in the city partnering with a private entity to install $4 million in infrastructure along with new commercial development.
