Upgrades to Mays Park were desired that could honor the existing park amenities while bringing in new, much needed facilities to the neighborhood. A new pedestrian crossing at 10th Street has become the epicenter of the park’s revitalization that includes a splash pad, playground, restrooms, a shade structure, a walking trail, and a new parking lot on the north side. A new tennis and pickleball court, restrooms, a shade structure, and a revitalized skate park and basketball courts were provided on the south side.

City Park Pool and Splash Zone
A community fixture for over 50 years, the completed renovations at the City Park Pool and Splash Zone will ensure this facility remains a key asset of the community for the foreseeable future. A park office, bathhouse, mechanical building, concessions, activity pool, current channel, waterwalk, water slide, and separate splash pad area with a toy structure were included in the project. Additionally, the splash pad can be operated independently of the pool to allow for an extended aquatic season even after the pool closes.

Brookville, IN
Brookville Pool
After completing a feasibility study, HWC led the Town of Brookville through design and construction documents for a new community pool at Brookville Town Park. A key component of this design was integrating lap swimming and other activities in a smaller footprint. The final design included a new activity pool with beach entry, 3-lane 25-yard lap pool, water slide with splash down area, new mechanical building, and a renovation of the existing bathhouse/concessions/admissions building.

Aquatic Center
Upgrading the existing pool at Lafayette Park was identified as a high priority goal in the 5 Year Parks Plan. Shortly after completing that plan, HWC started working with the parks department on a new pool design. A zero-entry activity pool with toy features, upgraded diving well, and unique bathhouse building are some of the stand-out features. Having been fully operational for many seasons, the aquatic center is a popular destination in southwestern Indiana.

The Town of Remington asked HWC to develop a splash pad in Remington Community Park. The splash pad was designed to accommodate three different amenity zones designated by age—a low intensity zone for toddlers and increasing levels of intensity for elementary school children. Larger features include a dump bucket and water cannon, which are geared towards older children and tweens. Visits to the park have increased from May through September since installing this aquatic amenity.
